Not Really What I'd Call Lotion

I have been trying to save money. It's all part of my "1 Year Goal" plan. So here I thought, I will make lotions and lip balms. Aside from the vanilla flavoring, which I can't seem to get enough of the flavor in, the lip balms have turned out well. The lotion? Not so much. Here is the recipe I found from a website I like to visit:

1/2 cup olive or almond oil
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup beeswax
Optional 1 tsp Vit E oil or 2 tbsp Shea or coco butter.
I opted for the Shea Butter.
Essential oils

You combine all these ingredients in a jar and put the lid loosely on the jar and place in a saucepan with a couple of inches of water and let it slowly melt.

Easy right? The aroma is absolutely heavenly!

I used jars I ordered from an apothecary place I like to order from.

The end result wasn't quite what I had in mind...

And very greasy. Back to the drawing board

  2. Cut back on the beeswax and increase the Shea or Coco. It's entirely too solid with that amount of beeswax. Let me know how it turns out. Oh and use glass apothecary jars. Not plastic
