Is it my day off yet?

I got my lip balm ingredients and tubes and my trays for my candle chips. I can't wait for my organza bags!! I'm so ready to play.

I'm also counting the days! In November, the Mister's company is sending us to Sunriver Resort in Oregon for the weekend. Such a beautiful area. Shopping in Sisters, Oregon? You betcha!

Anticipation

I get so antsy and frustrated waiting for things I order to come in. When I want to make something or change the way I already make something and have to order new things to do it, it's like a child counting days until her birthday. Especially when I think it should be here by now. I had a brilliant idea (see where the title comes from?) to package the candle blocks  and I am waiting for my organza drawstring bags to get here.

More to come!

Not Really What I'd Call Lotion

I have been trying to save money. It's all part of my "1 Year Goal" plan. So here I thought, I will make lotions and lip balms. Aside from the vanilla flavoring, which I can't seem to get enough of the flavor in, the lip balms have turned out well. The lotion? Not so much. Here is the recipe I found from a website I like to visit:

1/2 cup olive or almond oil
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup beeswax
Optional 1 tsp Vit E oil or 2 tbsp Shea or coco butter.
I opted for the Shea Butter.
Essential oils

You combine all these ingredients in a jar and put the lid loosely on the jar and place in a saucepan with a couple of inches of water and let it slowly melt.

Easy right? The aroma is absolutely heavenly!

I used jars I ordered from an apothecary place I like to order from.

The end result wasn't quite what I had in mind...

And very greasy. Back to the drawing board

Welcome

Hi there! My name is Rae. I am the mother of 4 (2 sons, a step-son and a step-daughter). I have 2 daughters-in-law and 4 of the most beautiful grandchildren (3 boys and 1 girl) the world will ever set eyes upon. I'm mommy to kitty, Holly Meowlightly (named after Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's) and guinea pigs, Cookie and Sugar. I am also married to the man of my dreams.

Why Brilliant Ideas and Ramblings? I'm glad you asked. One of my favorite sayings is "Oh, I just had a brilliant idea!" (thus, people letting me know I am crazy) and I love to travel. In 2010, I had the good fortune of relocating to the beautiful Pacific-Northwest. Washington State. Since I have been here, I have laid eyes on some of the most breathtaking and stunning areas I have ever encountered. I have also discovered my love of learning to craft and make things people enjoy. I want to share both.

Sit back and enjoy the travels and projects (and major flops) I undertake.
